June 11, 2008 -- Santana’s Creating Hope Class, led by teacher Victor Lombardi, teamed up with Books of Hope, a service-learning program that matches American schools with schools in Uganda , Africa , in desperate need of resources.
Students in the Creating Hope class researched the culture and history of Uganda , then made presentations to share what they learned with the class. Their first book – an alphabet book - was delivered to the Koch Goma school in mid-April. Students just finished creating and sending 30 books, each with a personalized message to the Ugandan student who would be receiving the book. The completed books were full of hard work, creativity, pride and good will!
*Below is a presentation that shows more pictures of the students creating the books.
