Alvarado, Giano, Oswalt & Telesis Take Part in AAUW Math/Science Conference for 8th Grade Girls

Whittier and San Gabriel Valley female eighth graders learn to fight against educational gender bias

WHITTIER >> In an effort to smash through the stereotype that only boys grow up to be engineers, chemists, scientists and a large group of eighth grade female students from Whittier and the San Gabriel Valley attended a math and science conference Wednesday at Whittier College.

The event was presented by the Greater Whittier Area Branch of the American Association of University Women.

The students came from East Whittier City, El Rancho Unified, Hacienda-La Puente Unified, Little Lake City, Los Nietos, Montebello Unified, Rowland Unified, South Whittier and Whittier City school districts.

“The conference offers young women a chance to meet professional women in fields that require scientific, mathematical and technological training,” AAUW officials said. Click HERE for entire story!
