Rowland Reaches Out to Community with New Mobile App and District Climate Survey

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – OCTOBER 25, 2012 – The Rowland Unified School District is looking for innovative ways to keep parents and community members connected to local schools by launching a free “Mobile App,” now available for iOS and Android. People can select news from the Rowland Unified School District and its schools and access information on their phone or mobile device. They can visit the Apple App store and search for “Rowland Unified School District,” or the Android app store, and search for “Rowland USD.” High school sports news from Nogales and Rowland High Schools, school events, and news from all schools including Rowland Adult & Community Education can be added easily to the user’s calendar.

In addition, Rowland Unified is reaching out to the community with its annual District Climate Survey now through November 9, 2012. Community members can participate in the brief online survey to share what they believe are the most important issues the District should focus on in the future, including ideas and goals for the Superintendent. Available in English, Chinese and Spanish, the survey is accessed by clicking the survey link in the YOUR VOICE section of www.RowlandSchools.org and on every school website.

“We continue to outreach to our community and want to hear what issues matter most to them,” said Rowland Unified Interim Superintendent, Ruben Frutos. “Understanding the importance of technology, we are thrilled to offer a Rowland Unified mobile app that is another great way for our community to stay connected with us.”

Individuals who do not have access to computers may visit any RUSD school to take the survey online, or at the District Office (located at 1830 S. Nogales Street in Rowland Heights). Residents may also call the school district at (626) 854-8352 and request a paper copy of the survey. The goal is to ensure that everyone can easily provide input.

The Rowland Unified School District is proud to serve 16,000 students in the communities of Rowland Heights, Walnut, La Puente, City of Industry, and West Covina. More than 5,000 adults (16+) are also served by the Rowland Adult and Community Education School. For more information about Rowland Unified, call (626) 965-2541 or visit www.RowlandSchools.org.
