Fundraiser Features Performances by RUSD Orchestra Students

in Grades 4-12

ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – NOVEMBER 29, 2010 – The community is invited to a magical holiday performance to support the Rowland Unified Strings Program. The “Winter Festival” Concert will be held on Monday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at the STC Center Seasons Place (18558 E. Gale Avenue, between Nogales and Fullerton, City of Industry) and will feature performances by Rowland Elementary Strings, Oswalt and Ybarra Academy Strings, Alvarado Intermediate Orchestra, Rowland High Orchestra and District Honor String Orchestra. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 for adults, $5 for students (with ID) and children (3 and under are free).             Rowland Unified School District is committed to the arts and is one of the few Districts in the region to offer Instrumental Music in all of its elementary, middle and high schools. Elementary band begins in 5th grade. The String Program begins in 4th grade and has grown to 8 elementary schools, 2 intermediate, both K-8 Academies and both Nogales and Rowland High Schools. The Honor Orchestra features the top string students from all of the District schools, and has been invited to perform at the Regional Festival, representing the best music programs in all of Southern California.  2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the Rowland Instrumental Music Program.
