Ybarra Academy of the Arts and Technology Principal Annette Ramirez mentioned many of the school's changes in this year's first newsletter.

With the addition of seventh- and eighth-grade classes, Ybarra is now a K-8 school. The school continues its quest for authorization as an International Baccalaureate Premary Years Program school.

Several new staff members came on board this month. They are Glendy Martin, learning director; Monica Mendez, kindergarten; Chinsu Kim, first grade; Joan Sharp and Greta Koller, fifth grade; Maritza Jimenez, office assistant; and Frances Ramos-Flores, school psychologist.

Melissa Robledo will serve as Parent Teacher Association (PTA) President.
There are now high-tech modernized science lab and wireless capabilities throughout the school. Instrumental music and choral opportunities are available as well as violin classes.

After-school activities include Chess Masters, Spanish Explorers, Young Rembrandts, Mad Science and Spotlight Theatre.

These are only a few of the many exciting programs at Ybarra, which is located in Walnut and is a member of the Rowland Unified School District.
