Alvarado Students Celebrate Chinese New Year's Day with Visit by Sa Chung Hung, Descendent of Confucius

At Alvarado Intermediate to celebrate Chinese New Year’s Day, Sa Chung Hung, the descendent of Confucius of 73rd generation, will be visiting the school.  He will make a presentation to the Chinese language classes to introduce Confucius and his analects, explain how Chinese characters evolve, how to write Chinese calligraphy, and demonstrate how to compose poems.  Students will have the opportunity to practice Chinese calligraphy. (8:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.)

 In addition, the parents from Chinese language classes and a group of Chinese parents from the school community will prepare a Chinese New Year Celebration luncheon for the school staff during lunch time to appreciate the staff’s hard work to receive the recent "School to Watch" national recognition.
