COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE NEW EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM ASSISTING PREGNANT TEENS AND FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

 

WHAT:            Options-Early Head Start will hold a festive grand opening ceremony on Thursday, November 4 at 10:00 a.m. celebrating the creation of a new facility on campus at La Seda Elementary. The Options-Early Head Start program features three infant/toddler specific classrooms providing services to 24 children and their families ages birth to three.  The program is fully enrolled, and since opening in May 2010 has already transitioned five children into high quality preschool programs in the community. 

 

                        Options – Early Head Start provides a full-day comprehensive child and family development services for low-income expectant families, and families with children ages birth to three. It also provides early, continuous and comprehensive child development and family support services.  The purpose of the program is to enhance children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and to support parents’ efforts to fulfill their parental roles and move toward self-sufficiency.  Parents are required to be employed, or enrolled in high school, college or a vocational program to be eligible.

 

                        Options – Early Head Start works in collaboration with Rowland Unified School District’s Cal-Safe program at Santana High School and West Covina Unified School District’s Cal-Safe Program at Coronado High School.  Options’ EHS program offers both center-based and home-based programs, and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. year round.
