Schools With Shoes For Students in Need Aug. 12

LA PUENTE, CA  – Two sisters remember what it was like to get a new pair of shoes for the first day of school – and the look on the face of the child who couldn’t. Ann Marie Smith and Monica Gonzales, co-owners of their Italian-inspired footwear company Aldabella Scarpa™, are giving shoes to children in need, starting with the hometown schools they attended in La Puente. On August 12, from 10 a.m. – Noon, 100 girls selected from Villacorta Elementary and Giano Intermediate will receive the special “I Matter” shoe. 

            Designed by the owners’ 13-year old niece, the shoe features positive messages for girls like “Believe,” “Dream,” “Friends,” and “Hugs.”  The Villacorta and Giano students get to choose their color of shoe and will be presented them by the Rowland Alumni in the quad of Giano Intermediate (located at 3223 S. Giano Avenue in West Covina).

            “It is our goal at Aldabella Scarpa™ to give away 14 million pairs of shoes with the help of our customers,” said Smith, a former school teacher. “For every pair of shoes purchased, our company will give away a free pair to an American child in need. By teaming with schools in America’s poorest communities, our customers can help us make a big impact.”

            Villacorta Elementary and Giano Intermediate are part of the Rowland Unified School District, proud to serve 17,500 students at 23 elementary and secondary schools in the communities of Rowland Heights, Walnut, La Puente, City of Industry, and West Covina.
