ROWLAND HEIGHTS, CA – MARCH 10, 2009  – Get ready to have some fun and raise some funds for students and teachers of the Rowland Unified School District! On Friday, March 27, 2009, the Friends of Rowland Unified Schools Foundation, better known as FOR US, will host their “Boots-N-Spurs Evening Round-Up” Casino Night Fundraiser. This event will take place from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Pavilion located in the Industry Hills Expo Center, 16200 Temple Avenue in the City of Industry. Admission to the event is $38 per person before 3/13/09, $45 after.
 
“Last year, Casino Night raised more than $38,000, enabling FOR US to award classroom grants to enhance the overall learning environment,” said Superintendent Dr. Maria Ott. The FOR US Foundation fundraising effort provides much needed revenue to help fill in the gaps left by the low level of school funding. Founded in 1997, FOR US has awarded over $200,000 in grants in order to provide classroom experiences that benefit students directly to increase their involvement and motivation to learn.
 
You will have an opportunity to interact with our very own Rowland Unified school administrators and teachers, as they deal Black Jack, Poker and Roulette. Additionally, there is a Silent Auction and a Grand Prize drawing for a Laughlin Getaway. Special “fixins” will be provided by Black Angus Steakhouse with drinks from Around the Corner Bar & Grill.  Many local corporations help sponsor this event including: Adolph Ziemba, AIA & Associates, Inc., AERA Energy, LLC, Aegis Senior Living, Anthem Blue Cross, Around the Corner Bar & Grill, Athens Services, Black Angus Steakhouse, Chaffey Federal Credit Union, Cold Stone Creamery, Dain Insurance Agency, DC Architects, Supervisor Don Knabe, 4th District, Foothill Transit, George K. Baum & Company, Gutierrez & Vera, LLP, Henry Woo Architects, Inc., Industry Manufacturers Council, Keenan & Associates, Miller Brown & Dannis, and United Pacific Waste.
 
The cost to attend the “Boots ‘N Spurs” fundraiser is only $38 per person (until 3/13/09) or $45 per person after. Each person will receive $200 in casino play money. The casino play money can be traded for casino chips at any of the gambling tables. At any time during the evening, your “earnings” can be traded for raffle tickets to give you a chance to win the raffle prize(s) of your choice. In addition to casino games, attendees will have a chance to bid on unique silent auction items during the evening.
