COMMUNITY ASKED TO HELP RAISE SCHOOL FUNDS WITH UNIQUE KISS A PIG CONTEST

Teachers and Staff at Oswalt Academy Will Pucker Up February 13

Tough economic times call for creative and bold moves. It’s time for a hog bail out! Principal Astrid Ramirez and the teachers and staff at Oswalt Academy will “pucker up with a pig” to raise funds to offset school budget cuts. For a dollar per vote, community members (especially students!) are encouraged to choose the teacher/staff member they would most like to see kiss a live pig! The Kiss A Pig event will take place at 9 a.m. on February 13.  Tickets are on sale now – and there is no limit to the amount anyone can purchase. The community can watch that morning - for $1! Students can also purchase piggy kisses for a $1!

“The Kiss a Pig competition among the kids is fierce! One teacher had $36 in their jar on the first day,” said Principal Ramirez. “I told our students that of course the principal and vice principal will kiss the pig, but our jars must reach 100 votes each before we do the deed!”

Thanks to the help of the Mt. SAC Agriculture Department, a pig will be brought to a school wide assembly where all contestants will gather and the “smooching” will begin. The teacher from each grade level who has the most votes will Kiss a Pig!

All funds raised will go towards supporting school programs, such as the Apple Laptop Learning Program and International Baccalaureate Program.

For more information and to purchase tickets, please contact Oswalt Academy at (626) 810-4109. Oswalt Academy is a K-8 school located at 19501 Shadow Oak Drive, Walnut.
